I’m frequently asked why I put lemons in my water and what the benefits are.
As well as it being refreshing it also hydrates & oxygenates body, flushes out unwanted toxins, promotes a stronger immune system, soothes the digestion system, high in calcium for strong bones, source of vitamin c, blood purifier, helps with weight loss, great for your skin as anti ageing (cleanses from within), alkalises the body.
Vitamin C is a powerful antioxidant which protects your body from tissue damage. Antioxidants protect you against the effects of free radicals. Free radicals can cause cell damage that can contribute towards cardiovascular disease and cancer.
I like to drink lemon water in a various ways, the simplest way is to add sliced lemons to water bottles or leave in a jug of water in the fridge and keep topping it up, you can do this with many fruits too not just lemons. I also like to pulp the lemons (peeled) and add water in a jug – this can be strong so each glass I pour only half and add additional hot water, drinking warmish lemon water in a morning will wake up your digestive system, making it work more efficiently taking in nutrients. I also like to add lemon slices to Green Teas or even just hot water with
some fresh mint leaves. I also add lemons to my smoothies and even squeeze them in to sauces.
Lemons are great for fighting colds, next time you have cold add a squeeze of lemon and a teaspoon of honey to some hot water and you’ll be tackling that cold in no time. Honey just like lemons promote a stronger immune system which fights against colds and illnesses.
